Then you take the companies that were recommended and do the same due diligence.

Uh-oh.

Seems like you found a different site that now states that THESE two companies are in fact scams. Seems like each author is promoting different businesses as not being scams. What goes?

Well, I believe you were just reeled into the newest form of advertising, the Scam Review.

In this process, a scam review is presented, hopefully factual, to give you the low-down of how the business supposedly operates. Whether it is factual or not is in the eyes of the beholder. Personally, many MLMs are some version of a scam, but not because of the product, but because of how the business is marketed and operated. When the focus is on recruiting instead of the product, the business is probably doomed to fail.
